Rainbow Flag Award

Leicester LGBT Centre are proud to deliver the Rainbow Flag Award to schools and colleges in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

The Rainbow Flag Award provides an evidence-based national framework for all schools and colleges to create a positive LGBT+ environment and inclusive experiences for all staff and students, helping you to meet your legal, statutory, moral and Ofsted requirements to be LGBT+ inclusive.

We will support you to take a whole-organisation approach to LGBT+ inclusion, individually tailored to your school or college, across six key areas: 

• Skilled Teacher 

• Supportive Governors and Parents 

• Effective Policies 

• Inclusive Curriculum 

• Pastoral Support 

• Student Voice 

 

What’s it like to take part in the Rainbow Flag Award? 

The Rainbow Flag Award was piloted in four regions of England, and you can hear from some of the pilot schools and colleges in this short video:

We begin fresh cohorts of schools and colleges on the award with each academic term, most complete their Rainbow Flag Award in one academic year. Your first-year membership allows you two places on the LGBT+ inclusion starter training, this training is provided by skilled team members of Leicester LGBT Centre, and we will offer ongoing support throughout the year, as well as detailed feedback and evidence reviews. You will also have access to positive LGBT+ classroom resources as well as 20% off any additional training and resources which may include: 

• Training for staff members 

• Workshops for young people 

• LGBT+ in school support 

• 1:1 support for young people 

• Assemblies 

• Consultancy
