40 YEARS ON YOUR SIDE

Since the creation of a gay helpline in 1976, the Leicester LGBT Centre has been supporting the LGBT communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for over 40 years. This timeline highlights some of the important events that have shaped the Centre up until this point in time.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Our mission is simple: to create a fair and equal society where all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people can achieve their full potential. In 2017 it may be simple to write this down or say it out loud but in order to make it happen requires a great deal of change throughout all sections of society. We will continue to work closely with a range of statutory, voluntary and private organisations to work towards the eradication of homophobia from service provision as well as providing direct support services to LGBT people. Over the next few years we will be looking to cement the long term sustainability of the organisation by developing new and innovative projects and funding-generating activities.
