Bi Visibility Day has been Celebrating Bisexuality every year on 23 September, since 1999This year Leicester LGBT Centre will be hosting a Bisexual Visibility Day event from 12 midday until 2 p.m. on Friday 23rd September 2016. Our featured guest is Jacq Applebee: writer, poet and bisexual activist. Jacq is the co-founder of Bi's of Colour, a social and support group. Jacq was listed at number 58 in the Sunday Times Pink List Award 2015, recognising influential LGBT people.

Grant Denkinson is helping organise the event. He lives and works in Leicester supporting university researchers in the library at the University of Leicester and also as a counsellor / psychotherapist with De Montfort University student support and in private practice. He has been a volunteer community organiser and participant in the bisexual community for a couple of decades as well as organising Leicester LGBT Pride and being a past director of Leicester LGBT Centre.

Both Jacq and Grant are chapter author / editors for the new UK book by and about bisexuals: Purple Prose.

There will be readings by Jacq Applebee and a chance to chat with them and Grant Denkinson about how people who are attracted to people of more than one gender live our lives.

Whether you consider yourself bisexual, pansexual or just don't fit easily into either "gay" or "straight" or whether you are just interested in bisexuality - please do come along. The event will be free and we will ask for donations towards Bi's of Colour.
