Since 1988, October 11th has been celebrated as National Coming Out Day in the US, UK and Switzerland, when members of the LGBT communities mark the affirmation and power of coming out and raise awareness of our communities. On this day we both celebrate our visibility as openly Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Queer individuals and remember those people who for whatever reason aren't able to be open about themselves. This is an opportunity for us to challenge stigma, silencing and invisibility, and celebrate with our communities, our loved ones and allies.

Each year on Oct. 11, National Coming Out Day continues to promote a safe world for LGBTQ individuals to live truthfully and openly.
