So it's a really exciting time here at the Leicester LGB&T Centre and not just because the holiday season is only a few weeks away!

We're being supported by BBC Children in Need to run a three year project specifically for young transgender people aged 0-18 years old. Offically launching in the New Year, the aim of the project is to:

  • Set-up a support group - providing a safe space where young transgender people, aged 13-18, can meet on a regular basis

  • Offer advice and guidance about the transitioning process to young transgender people and their families/carers

  • Advocate on behalf of young transgender people

  • Provide information, guidance and assistance to stakeholders who also support young transgender people – offering bespoke workshops where appropriate

  • Work with other stakeholders to improve the care pathway for young transgender people

So if the project isn't offically launching until the New Year, why are we putting this on the website I hear you ask?

Well Lisa Vine, the project lead, wants young transgender people to be involved from the word go. So, if you are aged 13-18 years old and transgender then we'd love to hear from you. And even more importantly, why not come along to the Centre on Monday 14 December 2015 at 7pm? Not only will this be a great opportunity to meet other young transgender people, it's an opportunity to shape the project and really make it your own. See the flyer below for more details.

What about those who aren't 13-18 years old? Well, we'd still love to hear from you! In fact, if you are aged 0-18 years old and transgender, or you are a parent/carer of a young transgender person, or you feel the project could benefit you or your organisation in any way please don't hesitate to contact Lisa on 0116 254 7412 or via email -
