This is a half day (3 hour) session that will provide participants with an introduction to some of the critical issues relative to LGBT+ communities in the UK, legislation, and how this impacts on service delivery to LGBT+ people. The session will provide delegates with an increased understanding of LGBT+ communities and improve ability and confidence to effectively engage with and support LGBT+ people. Plus offering top-tips and good practice guidance. 


Learning objectives for the session include: 

  • Understanding of key definitions and language 

  • Basic understanding of the link between legislation and practice (Equality Act 2010 & Gender Recognition Act 2004) 

  • Greater knowledge of the issues affecting LGBT+ people 

  • Awareness of the implications for service delivery 

  • Gain knowledge and understanding about the implications relative to employers and employees 

  • To gain confidence in delivering services to improve equality and inclusion
