Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Coordinator to join Leicester Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Centre. In return, we offer a competitive salary of £8.25 per hour, 10 hours per week (Monday and Tuesday 4-9pm) benefits to include 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, pro rata. 

Leicester Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Centre is a voluntary organisation established to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The Centre exists to provide a safe social and support space, deliver high quality professional services that are responsive to the needs of the local community and challenge the inequality created by society. 

The Project Coordinator will report to the Project Manager and will be responsible for the initial point of contact for Visitors, guidance and information, work on Tea with Dorothy (project working with older LGBT people to reduce isolation), and general duties and tasks. 

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • To maintain accurate, concise, up-to-date and timely records of discussions that takes place between the Project Coordinator and service user 

  • To keep knowledge up-to-date on issues of importance and specific interests to the LGBT communities 

  • To keep records of conversations with service users as to guidance and information given and any signposting 

  • To act as a sign poster for guidance and information to other organisations 

  • To maintain and expand on the information and material on display and to be handed out in the Centre 

  • To work with the direction of the Project Manager to establish, coordinate and maintain a befriending programme for the project, Tea with Dorothy 

  • To work with the direction of the Project Manage to deliver the milestones and objectives of the project, Tea with Dorothy 

The successful Project Coordinator will have the following skills and experience: 

  • Previous experience or interest in working with older LGBT people (50+) 

  • Ability to work without close supervision 

  • Ability to motivate and work as part of a team 

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with other organisations to deliver service improvements 

  • Outstanding organisation skills, with experience of managing work to deadlines 

  • Understanding of excellent customer service 

  • Excellent communication and presentational skills

This is a part time position (10 hours per week). The role will involve working regular evenings (Monday and Tuesday 4-9pm) and the last Saturday of each month (12-3pm – time off during the week in lieu of these hours will be given).

Assistant Youth Worker 

Location: Leicester LGBT Centre, Leicester LE1 6HH

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Youth Worker to join Leicester Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Centre. In return, we offer a competitive hourly pay rate of £8.25 per hour and benefits to include 26 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata).

Leicester Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Centre is a voluntary organisation established to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The Centre exists to provide a safe social and support space, deliver high quality professional services that are responsive to the needs of the local community and challenge the inequality created by society.

There is one role available: Thursday evenings 6.15-9.15pm, occasionally other evenings and very occasionally weekends.

The Centre Assistant Youth Worker role involves assisting the lead Youth Officer in the planning and delivery of sessions for young people ages 13-18 by proactively raising awareness around sexual orientation and gender identity. The role will also involve providing support and guidance to young people with the support of volunteers.

Duties will include:

* To work with the lead Youth Officer and alongside the youth team of volunteers and young people to deliver a programme of activities,

* To assist to improve young people’s physical and mental health and emotional well-being,

* To assist to raise young people’s aspirations and build their resilience,

* To assist to create a non-judgemental, welcoming, safe and supportive atmosphere for young people,

* To encourage young people to be fully involved in the services they receive,

* To ensure that safeguarding protocols are understood and adhered to.

The successful Assistant Youth Worker will have the following skills and experience:

* Capable of working in a small team of youth worker and volunteers, assisting in the planning and facilitating group activities,

* Experience of working with young people (paid or voluntary), eg, social care, education, youth work, counselling, etc,

* Some experience of working with young people with multiple and complex needs

* Some knowledge of safeguarding children and young people,

* Experience of involving young people in project delivery,

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with young people,

* Possession of a mature, friendly, confident personality,

* Good understanding and knowledge of issues affecting young LGBT+ people,

* Good understanding of equality and diversity,

* Capable of basic administrative tasks, eg, evaluations, register keeping and recording of incidents,

* Being punctual and reliable, ability to attend regularly on Thursday evenings.
